Differences Between 1300 Numbers and 1800 Numbers

Both 1300 numbers and 1800 numbers are "virtual" in that they are not tied to a specific phone in the same way that landline and mobile numbers are. Instead, they can be routed to the "answerpoints" at which you want them to ring, including landlines, mobile phones, fax machines, and live answering services.

The difference between these two types of numbers is the way in which call costs are shared between the caller and the 1300 number or 1800 number account holder.

1300 Numbers (Also Called Local Call Numbers)

With our 1300 numbers, calls to the 1300 number from a local landline that you answer on your landline include FREE talk time

The caller: pays the cost of a local call (usually 30¢) from any fixed line phone anywhere in Australia. (Note that if the caller is using a mobile phone, they will pay a rate that is determined by their mobile service provider.)

Account Holder: gets the first minutes FREE for calls originating from a local fixed line phone and terminating on your fixed landline. After the FREE talk time minutes, our low call rates apply. Free minutes vary depending on plans, with our most popular 1300 number plan providing 30 free minutes.

1800 Numbers (Also Called Toll Free and Free Call Numbers)

The caller: gets a FREE call from any fixed line phone anywhere in Australia. (Note that if the caller is using a mobile phone, they will pay a rate that is determined by their mobile service provider.)

Account Holder: pays our low 1800 number rates for the call. The free talk time component does not apply to 1800 numbers.
